2023 Domaine de Colonat Bon Vent
Tasting Notes
A refined and powerful expression of Gamay, showcasing the depth and structure of this prestigious Beaujolais cru. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby color with garnet reflections, hinting at its intensity and potential for aging. The nose is complex and elegant, offering an aromatic medley of black cherry, dark plum, and blackberry, intertwined with floral notes of violet and peony. Subtle layers of spice, crushed stone, and a touch of cocoa add intrigue and reflect the wine’s terroir-driven character. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a velvety texture and well-integrated tannins that provide structure and finesse. Flavors of ripe dark fruits are complemented by savory hints of black pepper, licorice, and a mineral backbone. A lively acidity adds balance, leading to a long, polished finish with echoes of dark berries and earthy complexity.
