2022 Michel Redde La Moynerie
Tasting Notes
A benchmark expression of Pouilly-Fumé, showcasing the elegance and depth of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. In the glass, it reveals a luminous pale gold color with subtle green reflections. The nose is refined and complex, offering a bouquet of ripe citrus—grapefruit and lemon peel—alongside notes of green apple, white peach, and delicate elderflower. A distinctive flinty minerality weaves through the aromatics, adding layers of smoke and wet stone that define the terroir. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, combining a creamy texture with vibrant acidity. Flavors of lime zest, pear, and quince mingle with subtle herbal nuances and a whisper of almond. The hallmark flintiness persists, lending structure and a sense of place. The finish is long and precise, leaving a lingering impression of freshness and sophistication. This wine will continue to evolve over the next 5–7 years, gaining even greater complexity. Pair it with smoked salmon, shellfish, or creamy goat cheese for a classic and harmonious match.
About Michel Redde
Michel Redde et Fils is a celebrated family-owned winery nestled in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation of France's Loire Valley. Established in the early 1950s by Michel Redde, the estate spans 103 acres of vineyards across varying terroirs. Now led by Michel's grandsons, Sébastien and Romain Redde, the family continues its commitment to producing exceptional Sauvignon Blanc wines that capture the diversity and brilliance of the region's terroir.
One of the estate’s standout cuvées, "Barre à Mine," is a testament to their perseverance and passion. The vineyard landscape was so rocky that dynamite had to be used to reduce the size of the rocks to allow planting. The challenging conditions yielded remarkable results, producing Sauvignon Blanc with unparalleled minerality and complexity. These wines, reflecting the labor and vision of the Redde family, are celebrated as some of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
