2020 Delmas Syrah
Tasting Notes
Deep purple-red hue with a captivating bouquet of violets, licorice, blackberry, huckleberry, bacon fat, smoldering incense, and dark chocolate. Beautifully precise on the palate with notes of black plum, blackberry, truffles, nutmeg, allspice, white pepper, and stony minerality. Subtle hints of bittersweet chocolate, grilled thyme, and vanilla are also present. On the exquisite finish the wine has an umami character, full of salinity and stony minerality. An Elegant wine.
About Delmas
All of Delmas wines originate from their 13-acre SJR Vineyard, which is uniquely situated at the southwest corner of The Rocks District; where the ancient wild river deposited finer soils amongst the cobbles/gravels. Brooke Delmas Robertson, who has taken the helm in guiding the winegrowing efforts for the family, ensures the continuation of their distinguished wines. These wines show a singularly distinctive expression within The Rocks District.
